Monday, September 16th Grammar Practice Adjectives and Nouns

Last week we reviewed linking and action verbs, two different parts of speech. This week we will focus on adjectives, words that describe nouns, and nouns. Adjectives and nouns are 2 additional parts of speech. Nouns, as you may know, are words that fall under the categories of persons, places or things. The word, library, is a noun because it is a place. When one uses words to describe the library, then one is using adjectives.  Ice cream is another noun. Can you find 4 adjectives to describe ice cream?

1. With your partners, brainstorm a list of adjectives to describe a dog.

2. With your partners, brainstorm a list of adjectives to describe a flower or a tree.

Write this list in your writer’s notebook. Title your page, Adjectives and Nouns.
